Sleek Text Overlay
Mark wanted a MAGIC Vinyl Banner for his dealership showcasing the Saturn VUE. He needed a custom text overlay on a background image that he had on the Saturn Art CD. Mark emailed Rick the background image and instructions for the text overlay. Rick emailed Mark back with a proof of the background image and overlay. Once Mark had the design he wanted, his design was printed as a MAGIC Vinyl Banner at 10' x 20'.

Vivid Colors, Charming Design
Craig needed a banner designed for the Old Westbury Fall Festival. He had an idea of the look he wanted for his banner. He wanted an Old Western bold type face for the "Old Westbury Fall Festival" line and he needed to recognize the Corporate Sponsor, GreenPoint Bank by using their logo with a tagline. He also thought a sky blue background with clouds and some autumn-like artwork would finish off the look. After he emailed Rick the logo files he had, Rick emailed back a proof of the design he created. Once Craig had the design he wanted, his design was printed twice as two 6' x 24' MAGIC Vinyl Banners.

Clean, Crisp & Professional
George was extremely busy getting a new dealership ready for it's first day. He knew that he wanted a billboard across the street to let motorists know that his new facility was going to be open soon but he didn't have the time to make a design. George supplied Rick with the Accurate Automotive logo and a rough drawing of the billboard design he wanted by fax. As usual, Rick made a clean, crisp and easy to read design that really works well. He emailed the design to George. After George replied asking for a few minor adjustments, he received a second proof and was satisfied. The design was printed as an 8' x 24' MAGIC Vinyl Billboard.

Stylish, Modernized Type
Rick is not content with plain text and the default font. Even the most basic message can be transformed into something that is pleasing to the eye. Notice the variety of fonts and letter sizes used above. Each letter and number has been beveled and shadowed to give it a 3D look while remaining clean and professional.

Special Touches
Of course the underline could cut through the two "P's" in the word "Shoppe", but that wouldn't look as good as making a break in the line. Also the ampersand is colored green to give an idea of separation between the left and right sides. The use of red and green elements throughout the design works perfectly for this Christmas design, yet it remains unobtrusive. The tree and Santa had to be meticulously trimmed from their backgrounds. It is the little touches that are the important aspect of making a pleasing design.

Trimming The Tree
Most people don't know that in order to put an image of a tree on a white background, every edge of the tree must be trimmed to separate it from it's background. This pertains not only to trees, but to any object which must be taken from it's original background. This is a painstaking process which yields beautiful results. Not only did Rick trim around each little blade of the the Fir tree, he also did the same for the two wreaths and the garland. That precise work along with the beautifully spaced, colorized, shadowed and highlighted text make this design a real work of art.

One Design, Four Companies
When Front Street Realty needed their billboard redesigned, Rick was ready for action. This design was different than most because four different companies shared the billboard. The space was evenly divided into quarters, just like the first design. Now, Rick gave special attention to each company's section. For Kiss Carpet, Rick used a handsome approach and evenly spaced each word while keeping everything perfectly centered. A subtle but pleasing drop shadow was used on the words "KISS CARPET". His artistic touch also shows through on the light blue "bullets". The Press Box received some of Rick's imaging talents. Rick carefully trimmed a high resolution digital image of a deluxe grilled hamburger for use in this design. He also made sure the tomato looked red and the lettuce looked green by selecting around each of them and enhancing the color of them afterwards. The bun, burger and onion received the same treatment as well. After all was said and done, this design looked great. The IGA design required the most work out of any of these designs. Rick took separate images of the grocery items and trimmed them each out of their backgrounds. Rick then layered them on top of each other and arranged them in front of a shopping bag that he had also trimmed out of it's background. Along with with the impressive amounts of delicate work Rick did trimming and placing these items, he color enhanced them. The finishing touch was the "IGA" overlaid on the brown bag and the nicely placed and spaced text. Rick also leaves no text without his special enhancements. Fred's Mini Storage and Front Street Realty are done in a crisp, clean combination of navy, black and bright green. The fonts are shaped for that custom-look. Needless to say, everyone at all four of the companies loved the design. This design is now outside, printed on MAGIC Vinyl and attached to a billboard structure.

Special Effects
There is no doubt that Rick was born to do artwork. There simply aren't many people who can this kind of graphic work, not to mention in large format. Countless images were used of landmarks in the Cleveland area. Each image required the tedious task of trimming the building from it's background. Rick masterfully created a realistic, interwoven city scene with the landmarks. It looks real, but in fact, such an area doesn't even exist! Rick also turned daytime into night near the top of this design, even with fireworks included! Sitting in the center of the top is the well-known 3D Chrome logo that, of course, Rick created for OTC. You can have Rick create something like this for your banner. Imagine the possibilities. |
